Under The Rose

Under the Order of the Velvet Rose, everyone must adhere to the laws that were set into place by the True ruler of the City. He did not rule the back alleys and the Darkness….
No he held domain over the entire area…his dominion was absolute. No one had dared to oppose him, not a single soul wishing to go up against his might.
He had come far from whence he had fallen…the Dark Slayer having returned from his ashes…reborn once more like the Phoenix. With nothing standing in his way, he had risen on high, long since forgotten his fall from power in his earlier years.
Coming to rule a city, was something of an easy feat for one such as him. Now the real trick was ruling over the nation, capturing their attention and forcing his hand. He would have no one escaping…no one would run from him, he would not let them be free.
Why should they be?
Mortals are nothing but fodder…
(Ficlet) In dedication to a movie I watched…
He had been permitted to go out and enjoy the morning with his Mother, while Dante stayed home, having refused to go out with them. Wanting to stay back and spend time with his Father, but in doing so he had missed the chance to say goodbye to his her one last time. To both of them…
Someone had been watching Vergil and his Mother for weeks, getting to know her routines and where she took the young Prince. Today had been special, the area well open and yet so secluded.
He trotted along side her, clutching her hand as a lustrious smile curved over her lips, the day was beautiful nothing seemed to be tarnishing this beautiful morning. Except the resounding shot of a rifle. Catching the sound ringing through the air, she hoisted the boy into her arms and rushed down the side walk, seeing people dropping like flies around her.
“It’ll be ok, It’ll be ok…” She whispered, holding Vergil to her chest, shielding the boy as best she could in her current situation. “We’ll be oka-…” her voice cut off, drown out by the sound of a rifle going off.
As she toppled over, Vergil let out a surprised cry, clutching onto his Mother. He had tried to look up, but even in death she had refused to let him see such horrors. And in the moment that she passed on, the young Prince was stole away before any help could arrive…
“I’ve no reason to miss humans, pointless creatures…”
Foolishness! Might controls everything. And without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself.
